Week Commencing 8th January

Dear parents/carers,

Happy New year to you all, I hope you have had a fantastic Christmas.

We are looking forward to seeing you all next week. Before the Christmas break the children asked for a variety of role plays including Doctors, families and teachers so we will try and set up an area that can incorporate everything they need for their wonderful little imaginations, and encourage the children to find or make other props they need for their play.

Our focus of the week will be understanding the world- Technology for this we will be making and using shadow puppets and using the gruffalo's child story to add interest and relevance for the children.

We will also be doing some sponge painting and using numbers in the paints.

In our small group time we will be playing our letters and sounds game and talking about feelings looking at our emotion cards and pulling different feeling faces.

Rising fives

This term we will be starting our letter sound scrap books, we focus on a different sound each week so next week will be 'a', so we invite your child to look around your home on an a hunt and bring in an item beginning with this sound. We use phonic sounds, if you would like to hear the different sounds check out jolly phonics on You tube where you will find the songs we use to support the sounds.
