Week Commencing 28th January

Dear parents,

Thank you for the lovely snack items this week we really do appreciate your support.

The children have loved playing with the tray of rice and oats this week it is a messy and very fun activity but also has lots of benefits, we have been strengthening our hand muscles and practicing pouring, we have been talking about volume, making comparisons, sharing, talking and using their imaginations to make up role play scenes such as cooking.

The children have also been busy making bird feeders and bird spotting.

Next week it is national story telling week, so we will be reading lots of stories and will have out a range of story sacks, if you would like to pop in to do some reading with the children you are more than welcome. Research shows that reading to your child greatly improves their language development, spend time talking about the story and the characters, don't be afraid to stray from the words. Research also suggests that very few daddy's read to their children i know we have some fantastic daddy's and would love for you to send in your photos of you reading with your child .

In our small group time we will be using the story sacks to bring the stories to life using props and puppets. We will also be playing 'playing with words' a rhyming activity from the letters and sounds program. At home try having some rhyming fun with your child it doesn't matter if they are made up words the sillier and funner the better! If your child is not ready for this stories and songs with rhyming words are a great introduction.
